Not so easy, eh?
When
you have a grievance toward someone, if at all possible, forget it! Dismiss it!
Forgive. Forgive yourself for taking it so seriously that it has encumbered
your peace. Forgive the other person for not knowing any better. Forgive the “act”
for coming into your life to spoil your peace. Forgive the person for not having
the ability to understand. Your life and time are too precious to allow the incident to take up space. Give yourself permission to Let Go.
Only
if you cannot do this, then go to the person and try to resolve it peacefully.
If
that doesn’t resolve things, then Forgive and Let Go. Allow room for peace in
your life. Forget it as much as possible. Let Go and move forward not allowing
this situation to rob you of any more energy, peace or thoughts. Do not allow this to continue to "control" your life.
Interestingly, in the ancient writings of Greek Holy Scripture, the admonition is to 'forgive one another freely.' There's a healing in this.
1. First
Forget It
2. If
you cannot forget it, then Address It with the other person3. If this fails to produce desired results, Forget It and Let It Go. Set yourself Free.
(Forgiveness does not mean that you excuse the other person's behavior. It means that it no longer has a hold on you. Forgiveness sets YOU free. The responsibility of the act, or the debt, now rests with the other person.)
